ROADTRIP TO THE DRIVE-IN CINEMA
One of the coolest outdoor and Aussie experience is simply to try the drive-in cinema. I love the movies and this has probably become one of my favorite fun things to do. In Adelaide, we have the Mainline Drive-in Cinema in Gepps Cross operated by Wallis Cinemas. It has a large outdoor movie screen and a huge car parking area. You can watch the movie inside your car or outdoor on camping chairs(if the weather is not too cold). Some people with van or SUV type of vehicles open the boot of their cars fold down the back seats and lay down comfortably.
Where to find Mainline Drive-in Cinema?
Mainline Drive-in Cinema is located north of Adelaide City. Just across a well-known intersection ‘Gepps Cross’ along main north road. Here’s their complete address: 588 Main North Road, Gepps Cross SA 5094.
You have the option to buy tickets online on their website or you can queue up when you arrive and get your tickets on site. Tickets per car with a maximum of 5 people is $25 and is good for one film only. If you’d like to watch more than one film. Here’s how much it will cost you.
1 Film – $25.00 PER CAR PER FILM (maximum of 5 people per car – extra persons $9.00 each)
2 Films – $50.00 PER CAR FOR 2 FILMS (maximum of 5 people per car – extra persons $18.00 each)
3 Films – $75.00 PER CAR FOR 3 FILMS (maximum of 5 people per car – extra persons $27.00 each)
Arriving 30 minutes prior the movie starts would be a great idea. As you drive in, staff will advise you which radio frequency to tune in.
What we saw?
Mainline Drive-in Cinema mostly shows the latest flicks. We saw ‘American Made’ starring Tom Cruise which was really entertaining! The movie is based on a true story of an American aircraft pilot turned drugs and guns smuggler – ‘Barry Seal’ and his unbelievable twist of fate. Great movie!
We really enjoyed this unique experience and will surely do this again. If you’d like to bring your friends, family and love ones in an affordable movie date visit the Mainline Drive-in Cinema website. Cheers!
