If you follow the west coastline starting from the north to the south you’ll find these beaches in exact order.
1. NORTH HAVEN BEACH
North Haven Beach. Located 23 km northwest from Adelaide CBD and nearby the outer harbor. The 1.2 km long beach is composed of fine sand and low waves which makes it the safest beach for a swim. You can walk your dog along the beach or find a good spot to catch a fish along the breakwaters. Protected Dunes makes up the beachfront.
2. LARGS BAY BEACH
Largs Bay. Located 17 km northwest from Adelaide CBD and accessible via public transport. The Jetty is a fishing spot, the beach made up of white sands and dunes. Generally, safe for swimming.
3. SEMAPHORE BEACH
Semaphore Beach is a popular beach hangout especially during summer, the Adelaide International kite festival is held here. People flock to Semaphore not just for the beach, but also for the large grassy area that surround the beach perfect for a barbeque or a picnic. There’s a playground for the kids to enjoy, some great shops, cafes and restaurants on nearby Semaphore Road. This soft white sandy beach is only 14 km away from Adelaide CBD.
4. GRANGE BEACH
Grange Beach. This beautiful, pristine beach with soft sands, very spacious perfect for a run with your dog. Shallow waters, flat and calm most of the time makes it safe for a quiet swim. The jetty is a big attraction for crabbing and fishing enthusiasts. Grange Beach is only 13 km from Adelaide CBD and is very accessible by public transport.
5. HENLEY BEACH
Henley Beach is the perfect spot to sip a coffee and watch the sunset. Lately, they have renovated Henley Beach Square now with modern facilities and a wave-like wooden seat overlooking the beach and jetty. Henley Beach is often busy, coffee shops and restaurants surround the area. A long stretch of white sandy beach is perfect for relaxation.
6. WEST BEACH
West Beach is another popular beach and seaside holiday destination. Located only 15 minutes from Adelaide CBD. West Beach is safe for swimming, the broad sands is simply beautiful and a perfect spot to relax with friends or family.
7. GLENELG BEACH
Glenelg Beach is a popular tourist haven. You can head on to Glenelg from Adelaide CBD via the Tram that stops right at its shore. Some beach volleyball action happens here, an outdoor cinema as an attraction, restaurants, bars, an amusement park, a shopping district, what more could you ask for? Perfect spot for leisurely stroll. Glenelg is an Adelaide icon.
8. BRIGHTON BEACH
Brighton Beach is historic. You’ll find an Arch of Remembrance right in the beach entrance commemorating the lives lost during the World War. Brighton Jetty is also a fishing spot, a great place to watch the sunset, or go for a quiet swim.
9. CHRISTIES BEACH
Christies Beach is one of the lovely beaches in Adelaide. Just a stone throw away from Port Noarlunga beach. Christies Beach views are breathtaking especially at sunset. The waters are clean with fine white sands, great for a walk or swim.

10. PORT NOARLUNGA BEACH
Port Noarlunga is located 33 km from Adelaide CBD. It features a white fine sandy beach, perfect for swimming, snorkelling and a picnic underneath the jetty.
11. MASLIN BEACH
Maslin Beach is a nudist beach. If you just want to spend the day just letting it all out then walk past the sign that says “Clothes must be worn up to this point” and you’ll know.

12. PORT WILLUNGA BEACH
Port Willunga is one amazing gorgeous beach. Located 50 km from Adelaide CBD this beach is historic! Star of Greece shipwreck can be seen at low tide. Jetty ruins stands on the beach. Yellow-gold cliffs fronting the beach are simply a wow.
13. ALDINGA BEACH
Aldinga Beach is located 46 km from Adelaide CBD. Aldinga is the perfect getaway for a chill on the beach. One of the few who permits you to drive and park your car right on the broad sandy beach.

14. SELLICKS BEACH
Sellicks Beach is located 58 km from Adelaide CBD and is a 10-minute drive from Aldinga Beach. You can find this beach at the end of Sellicks Beach road along the Esplanade. Like Aldinga Beach, you can also drive and park your car in the broad beach. Perfect place for a quiet spot.
